Michael Topliff currently lives in Berkeley, CA. The artist grew up along the Southern Peninsula, San Mateo, Foster City and finally Sunnyvale, CA. The artist thinks he was always creative, and in his early twenties he knew he wanted to do something like drawing and/or painting. The artist has taken drawing classes, but as far as painting is mostly self-taught. The artist admires the Impressionist and Surrealist movements and is inspired by surrealist artists like Salvador Dali and Max Ernst. The artist likes acrylic paints, because it dries quickly and you can apply many layers in a short period of time. The artist also loves oils, because it’s so rich and holds its texture very well. It’s also a forgiving medium and provides excellent opportunity for superior blending. The artist has shown his paintings a number of times at the Marin County Fair and Napa County Fair, and has won a number of awards. The Artist is a member of the Oakland Art Association, which has shows in a number of venues throughout the East Bay.
