Jessica Phrogus has lived in Berkeley, CA for 40 years and has also lived in the South, Georgia, Florida and Alabama. Jessica worked and went to school after leaving home at 17, studying at Cal State Eastbay received BA in Fine Art California College of Art MFA Printmaking Berkeley City College.Jessica has done multiple artist residencies and worked in different mediums, studios, as well as traveled around the world. She has been taught by many people and places. Jessica admires everyone as an artist. She believes art is everywhere and within everyone, even those who “can’t draw a straight line” (you know who you are). Jessica has worked in many mediums, mainly any surface that feels blank to her…acrylic painting, watercolor, printmaking, bookmaking, letterpress as well as ceramics and fabric sculptural installations. She has shown her work in Italy, Venezuela, and of course the Bay Area. Receiving a purchase award through the City of Berkeley’s Art Program, a vase is installed on the 5th floor of City Hall as part of the permanent collection.
