Donna Barati lives in Berkeley California, and has lived in the Bay Area for almost 35 years. She was born in Honolulu Hawaii, and grew up surrounded by vivid color, bountiful nature, and bamboo forests. She wanted to be an artist at a young age, and drew and painted as a teenager. But instead of going to art school, Donna graduated from college with a Bachelor degree in Humanities. After many years raising a family, she has returned to painting. Mostly self-taught, Donna has been influenced by Monet, Van Gogh, and Abstract Expressionism. She is a member of the Berkeley Art Center, and participated in their recent Annual Artist Exhibit.
Though Donna has painted with oils, she is now painting primarily with acrylics. She says “ I paint intuitively, and also have a plan in mind-thinking of composition, shape, and color. My paintings are mostly abstract, and I want to convey a feeling or an idea with an element of mystery so that the viewer can connect with that vision”. Please visit Donna's website.
